MP11-2: Ray tracing and image formation with a concave lens (practice, spoiler)

MP11-2: Total Internal Reflection Conceptual Question (practice, spoiler)

Total Internal Reflection can happen only going from high n to a lower n. The more extreme the difference (as a ratio) the smaller the angle at which total internal reflection can happen, as measured in the medium the light is departing.

MP11-1: A Laser and a Lens (spoiler)

Caution: d sub s is larger than f, so f - (d sub s) is a negative number.

Parts C & D:

MP11-1: A Convex-convex lens (spoiler - read hints first)

If you haven't already, please try reading the hints first.

Part B:

Part C:

MP11-1: A Convex-convex lens (hints - read me first)

Hint #1: Convex-convex tells you whether the lens is converging or diverging. You don't need to know any of the numeric parameters for Part A.

Hint #2: The side that the light leaves the lens, corresponding to R2, is convex, so it is CONCAVE from the light's perspective inside the glass.

Hint #3: R2 is negative.
